Fond of sand travel: The Great Dune of Pyla

Thursday, December 30th, 2010

Undoubtedly The Great Dune of Pyla happens to be the biggest sand dune in the whole of Europe. Also known as the Pilat, this large sand dune is situated in France. The dimensions are huge and enormous with a height of 117 meters and a length of 3km. It is extensively wide, approximately close to 500 meters.

The Great Dune of Pyla had always been an attractive tourist destination especially for people who are fond of travelling to the deserts. The best part about the place is that inspite of it being a desert the climate conditions are not extreme making the stay there very comfortable unlike other desert location where it is either unbearably hot or extensively cold causing discomfort.

Unfortunately a strong wind a couple of years back had destroyed The Great Dune of Pyla, however it is in the phase of revival and shall be an attractive spot once again.

Want to be amazed: visit Antarctica

Sunday, December 26th, 2010

So many people every year want to visit Antarctica but very few can. It is not an easy adventure in Antarctica. There are a number of cruise trips available for a week or so. There is no government in Antarctica. Management is done through the treaty that was signed in 1959. Seven nations are a part of this treaty.

You should visit Antarctica only during March- October. Post these periods, it is of grave danger as you might get stuck in a sea of ice and wait for another 7 months to get out of there. You should hire a proper travelling company and go in a big group rather than going just with your family. The companies provide you a professional tour guide who will guide you through Antarctica.

Generally you are kept in the ice free shore and not taken into the interiors. March is the best time to go as you can sea penguins all around. The ship can go deeper and whale sighting becomes very easy as they travel on fast ice.
